EMBRACE MUG creme
EMBRACE MUG creme
Ąselė (handle) is a functional element, but often it detracts from the sense of lightness and incompleteness in ceramic works. Therefore, during discussions and clay modeling, architect Vaiva Mažonė / Bōheme House and ceramist Vaida Vaičiūnaitė / Studio Tyle created the EMBRACE collection.
EMBRACE was born from a discourse—should a handle exist or not? The cup was created by rejecting traditional design concepts and the usual two-point attachment. Instead, a piece of raw clay was taken and, with a light motion, attached to the side. Thus, an initially unusual and asymmetrical form became particularly comfortable to the touch, resembling an embrace.
The design, anatomical and natural-feeling, emphasizes the relationship between the object and the person. A simple yet unexpected idea is embodied in a theatrical, aesthetic form that also provides a unique sensory experience. The idea of duality is reflected in the color scheme: the unglazed, rough handle contrasts with the glossy body, emphasizing the balance between naturalness and craftsmanship.
EMBRACE has become a sensation in the ceramics world, as the cups are based on palm anatomy and come in series for both right-handed and left-handed users.
